Andrew Hallmark
IT Professional in Healthcare in Government in the Community
I am Andrew Hallmark an IT Professional with over 10 years of IT experience ranging from the medical field to government work.
My knowledge comes from a combination of education and hands-on experience. On the education side I received my CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications back in 2010. Shortly after I attended Penn State University where I graduated with distinction and received a Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences and Technology (B.S. IST). As for professional experience, my jobs starting after college all helped solidify and expand my existing IT knowledge and skills.
My rewarding, if brief, experience at Best Buy (Geek Squad Consultation Agent, 2013) taught me patience and how to deal with a wide-range of IT issues explained by users with varying degrees of IT knowledge.
My time running my own PC repair business with Hallmark Computer Services (Owner, 2013 - 2019) honed my skills working with members of the community and a large variety of technical issues.
Whereas my time at Twin Cities Community Hospital (Desktop Support Senior Analyst, 2014 - 2018) provided a more structured and high-risk environment that fostered quick reactions to complicated IT issues. In addition, working in a hospital has expanded my IT knowledge by giving me the opportunity to work with everything from Virtual Machines (VMs) to Cisco Telepresence equipment.
For the last several years (2019 - Today) I've been working as an IT Specialist II for the County of San Luis Obispo, handling all IT duties for all County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries covering nearly 3,600 square miles of territory. In this position I work with everything from our ILS (Integrated Library System) to managing the library's website, servers, and services.
On the personal side, I enjoy video games, especially the new possibilities brought to the table with VR (Virtual Reality), video editing, and kayaking.
